Reflection time 🔥
In my last post, I piled up some of the biggest challenges when building scalable and sustainable growth strategies in marketing. In that very same post I focused on the first challenge in the pile:
🔧 Scalable marketing structures – Building marketing that can grow with the company without collapsing like a house of cards when volumes increase.
Today, I’ll focus on the 2nd:
⚡ Campaign efficiency – It’s not about "more is better," but "right is better."
It’s easy to get caught up in the "more is better" mindset – more campaigns, more channels, more content, more resources, more more more. But, is that really the best way to drive results? 🤔
Spoiler alert: Probably not.
Campaign efficiency isn’t about doing everything – it’s about doing the right things and doing them well.
🎯 Clear objectives – Successful campaigns start with a simple question: Why?
Why are we doing this? What are we trying to achieve here? Whether it’s brand awareness, lead generation or getting your cat to stop walking across your keyboard, the key is to answer the Why. With that, you will have a clear goal and clear goals allow you to choose the right strategy, tactics and measure success accurately.
🔍 Target the right audience – It’s tempting to cast a wide net, but trust me, focusing on the right fishes is where you get result. Deep customer insights, segmentation and personalized messaging is key. 🍝
⚙️ Automation & optimization – Efficiency doesn’t mean doing less work; it means using the right tools to automate and optimize the interesting stuff. When you automate the repetitive tasks and continuously improve based on real-time data, you free up time to focus on creativity, strategy - and those occasional coffee breaks (where you can get more insights by talking to colleagues). ☕️
📊 Measurable results – Data-driven marketing isn’t just about gathering numbers and hoping they look good. It’s about making those numbers work for you, for your team, for the sales and product teams, for the leadership team and the board. Effective campaigns are measurable, so you can act on what’s working and tweak what’s not. ✈️
💡 Iterative improvement – Campaigns don’t need to be perfect out of the gate. In fact, they shouldn’t be. Marketing is a process of testing, learning and improving. Even small adjustments can lead to big wins over time.
The key takeaway? More work doesn’t always equal more success. Focus your energy on the right strategy, optimize as you go and remember – efficiency is about being smart, not just busy. 🔑
How do you handle campaign efficiency? Got any tips or experiences where doing less made a bigger impact?
Next post will address challenge nr 3 - 📊 Data-driven decisions and measurability – If you’re not measuring, you are driving without a compass.
